Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series Announces Spike’s Trophies as an Official Sponsor
“We are pleased to announce that Spike’s has come on board as an official sponsor of the Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series,” said John Hogan, Commodore of The Schuylkill Navy, which organizes the Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series. “Through their official sponsorship, Spike’s can offer our competing clubs, schools and teams a full range of trophies and awards, special promotional products, apparel and signage. Since 1929 they have served Philadelphia and the region with memorable trophies and other celebrations of success, and we are grateful for their assistance during the course of our second full season of the Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series.”
“We have had the pleasure of working with a number of the regattas held on the Schuylkill individually over the years, “said Keith Baldwin, Chief Relationship Manager for Spike’s. “It is an honor for Spike’s to now work with the nation’s first unified regatta series as an official sponsor of the Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series, which is one of this region’s truly outstanding combinations of athletic competition and historic traditions bringing so many different communities together.”
Since 1929, the Philadelphia-based Spike's has become one of the nation’s largest and most experienced manufacturers of recognition, promotional products and signage. The company provides a wide range of high quality products and awards to businesses and organizations of all sizes. Spike’s has two Philadelphia locations – 2701 Grant Avenue, and their Center City Philadelphia Showroom in Penn Center at 1617 John F. Kennedy Boulevard. The 2012 schedule of the Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series, which brings together 20 previously independent events into the first year-long regatta series in the United States, launched on Sunday, March 18th with the first of five Manny Flick/Horvat Regattas for the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association (PSRA) and continues on Sunday, April 15th.
With three of the largest regattas in the Mid-Atlantic region on the schedule, as well as two of the nation's oldest regattas, the Philadelphia Classic Regatta Series connects the rowing competitors of today to the historic home of the international rowing elite. It is built upon a tradition that launched November 12, 1835 with the first organized regatta on the Schuylkill (a full eight years before the start of the rowing program at Harvard). Over 175 years later, the Schuylkill River hosts more regattas annually than any other river in the nation. Last year’s debut season featured over 35,000 competitors in over 7,700 boats representing not only high schools but colleges, clubs, masters and open programs from around the country.
