MKS&D Congratulates Nikki M. James, 2011 Tony Award Winner as Featured Actress in a Musical for "The Book of Mormon"

Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY – June 15, 2011 -- Nikki M. James won the 2011 Tony Award for Featured Actress in a Musical this past Sunday night for her role as a sweet Ugandan villager in the hit show, “The Book of Mormon.”

James said she loves originating roles in musicals, but would also like to perform the classics in New York. She came to her current role after playing Cleopatra opposite Christopher Plummer at the Stratford Festival in Canada; she also played Juliet in a non-traditionally cast production of Romeo and Juliet.

Overall, “The Book of Mormon” captured nine Tony Awards in all at the 65th annual celebration of the best of Broadway. The show’s awards included best musical, score, book, and direction (as well as featured actress). Accepting the musical award, Trey Parker, who crafted the libretto and songs with his South Park partner Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, thanked a co-writer "who passed away": Mormon founder Joseph Smith. "You won the Tony, Joseph!"

Cosmo DeNicola (Chairman), Janet DeNicola (Board Member) and the Team at MKS&D are proud to congratulate their client on her artistic achievement.
