Evan Kravitz Joins Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association As Manager of Marketing & Communications


Horsham, PA—April 14, 2010—The Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA) today announced that Evan Kravitz has joined the organization as its first Manager of Marketing and Communications.

“In this newly created role we needed someone who could effectively communicate our passion for soccer and the role it plays in the development of our youth,” said Chris Branscome, Chief Executive Officer of EPYSA. “Evan’s diverse background in media relations and communications will be vital in helping us deliver our message.”

Kravitz will oversee the editorial content of the EPYSA magazine “Touchline,” as well as the development of the organization’s new web site (to launch in late summer). He will also integrate new communication techniques to keep players, parents, coaches, referees and others through the new website, and communicate to the media the goals and activities of the organization and be accessible to the media for all soccer and youth development activities as they pertain to EPYSA. Kravitz will also act as communications liaison between EPYSA and its partners, the Philadelphia Union and Philadelphia Independence, to promote the continued growth of all three organizations.

Previously with ABC News as a freelance editorial producer, Kravitz traveled throughout the Delaware Valley and eastern United States handling logistics for live and taped interviews for “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight..” Kravitz spent eight days at Virginia Tech University after the tragic shootings there in 2007 interviewing students, residents and faculty. During this time, he also worked with Northeast Philadelphia High School to promote its Magnet School and SPARC (Space Research Center) Program where students, with aptitudes in science and math, simulate NASA missions.

A native of the Philadelphia area, Kravitz worked at CBS 3 Eyewitness News (KYW-TV) for more than a year as senior planning editor. He was responsible for editorial coverage and research for local, state and national elections, various court cases and Delaware Valley community affairs. Kravitz counts among his achievements at CBS 3 the planning of comprehensive coverage of the 9/11 five-year anniversary remembrance and an exclusive interview from space with Philadelphia-born NASA astronaut Chris Ferguson on his first mission.
Kravitz began his broadcast career at CNN Headquarters in Atlanta in 1998 as a production assistant with CNN’s Special Projects unit. He worked directly on breaking news specials for the Columbine School Shootings, the Clinton Impeachment and the war in Kosovo. As an associate producer and assignment editor, Kravitz worked on the production of the live, daily, program “TalkBack Live” and later worked with CNN affiliates across the country to incorporate regional stories into CNN’s national programming. During his seven years at CNN, Kravitz won a National Headliner Award for Team Coverage of a Breaking News Event: The Capture of Saddam Hussein.

Kravitz attended the University of Georgia, majoring in journalism and telecommunications. He and his wife, Laine, reside in Oreland, PA.
