University of Virginia-Wise Hosts Georgetown College Saturday, October 3rd in College Fanz NAIA Football Game of the Week


ESPN & College Fanz Founder Bill Rasmussen & the College Fanz Van Visit Wise, Virginia this Weekend

Grand Island, Nebraska – October 1, 2009 – College Fanz Sports Network, the world’s largest online college sports community launched by ESPN founder Bill Rasmussen, will feature the University of Virginia-Wise versus Georgetown College as the College Fanz NAIA Football Game of the Week this Saturday, October 3rd at 1:30 p.m. Eastern in a live TV webcast at http:/www.CollegeFanz.com.

The colorful College Fanz Van arrives in Wise, Va. Friday afternoon to provide live, on-site coverage, including pre-game, half-time, and post-game shows from the campus. The inaugural season of the College Fanz NAIA Football Game of the Week delivers live video stream coverage of games each weekend throughout the 2009 season. Rasmussen, who founded ESPN in 1979, is the CEO and founding partner of College Fanz. He will be in attendance at Saturday’s Mid-South Conference contest to meet with fanz before and during the game at Carl Smith Stadium, and will preside over the coin-toss at the start of the game.

Veteran NAIA sports commentator Jason Dannelly will be the color analyst for the Georgetown at Virginia-Wise matchup. Dannelly is the director of college relations for College Fanz and producer of the College Fanz NAIA Football Game of the Week.

Virginia-Wise will celebrate homecoming this weekend during the Cavaliers’ second home game of the year. The Cavaliers are 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in the Mid-South Conference East Division following a 60-20 loss to #9 Lambuth University last week. Head coach Bruce Wasem is in his eighth season at the helm of the Cavaliers, who were 8-3 overall last season.

Their foe on Saturday, Georgetown, is also a member of the MSC East Division, and collected a 21-15 upset win over then-#10-ranked Union College at home on Thursday. The Tigers are 3-1 so far this season for head coach Bill Cronin, who is in his 13th season guiding Georgetown.
