Tomorrow, Learn How Big Data is Driving the Future as Veros Advisors Brings Leading Futurist & Area Executives Together for “DESIGNING THE FUTURE”

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – November 6, 2013 – Tomorrow, Veros Advisors, a design-driven strategy and innovation firm based in suburban Philadelphia, presents an extraordinary preview of what is ahead, bringing together one of the world’s leading futurists and five of the Greater Philadelphia region’s forward-thinking business leaders, for “DESIGNING THE FUTURE,” at the Union League of Philadelphia on Thursday, November 7th

Patrick Tucker, deputy editor of THE FUTURIST magazine and director of communications for the World Future Society, will deliver the keynote address at “DESIGNING THE FUTURE.”

“More than 68 percent of American adults now carry a computer around with them in their pocket in the form of a smartphone,” said Tucker. “Through our movie and music streaming, our tweeting, our check-ins, the average American generates 1.8 million megabytes of data on a yearly basis There will be 44 times as much digital information in 2020 (35 zetabytes) as there was in 2009 (8 zetabytes) according to the research group IDC. Welcome to the world of big data. But what does this new era mean for us as business leaders, consumers, and professionals? I argue that we can use that data to plan for and design for the future in a way that would have seemed impossible just a few years ago.”

Tucker’s keynote presentation will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Tucker, joined by Stephen Tang, CEO, University City Science Center; Tom Doll, President, Subaru of America; Lawrence Husick, Managing Partner, Lipton, Weinberger & Husick and Serial Entrepreneur; and Youngmoo Kim, Director, The exCITe Center, Drexel University. The panel will be moderated by Frank Pulcini, Founder and President of Veros Advisors.

“DESIGNING THE FUTURE” will be presented in the Lincoln Memorial Room at the Union League, from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  A hot buffet breakfast will be served.  Tickets are $45 in advance, and registration for the event is available online at http://designing-the-future-r1.eventbrite.com/

“Innovation by design is not a skill used only by professional futurists,” said Pulcini.  “Innovation by design is much like any other business function.  It requires a clear strategy, committed resources and the right tools. There is one other critical element: an inquisitive mind willing to reach beyond the obvious. Attendees at ‘DESIGNING THE FUTURE’ will learn how to improve their skill at designing their futures, what new analytical tools they can use, how to be more innovative, and the difference design-thinking can make in their organizations. This isn't about theory -- it's about practical, proven initiatives, straight from the stories of organizations that have embraced innovation by design for competitive advantage.”
