Attendees at the NIRSA Exposition next week can register for the Interactive Fitness NIRSA Challenge, and compete for cash prizes by riding the new Expresso Bike.  Registration is open for the first eight registrants online at http://ifholdings.com/College?r=jim.  There is a $300 cash prize for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 for third place.  The “virtual competition” has an eight-person bracket with single elimination, head-to-head match-ups.  Winners based on fastest time advance to next round.  The routes will be selected by Interactive Fitness – estimated route times range from eight minutes in the first round to 25 minutes in the Championship Finals.

The first round is scheduled on Monday, March 4th from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Interactive Fitness booth, #640, in the Exposition Hall.  The semi-finals are slated for Tuesday, March 5th from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., while the Championship finals and consolation finals are Wednesday, March 6th at 12 Noon with awards to be presented following the races.

Interactive Fitness will also present awards on Wednesday, March 6th to the two winners of the first College Interactive Cycling Challenge, as well as the Top 5 All American Schools in each Division Throughout the month of February, Interactive Fitness sponsored the first-ever College Interactive Cycling Challenge.  Competition was heated nationwide as riders across the country compete head-to-head and virtually with each other. The College Interactive Cycling Challenge began on February 1st, and continued through February 28th.  Students, faculty, and staff from around the country represented their colleges, and conferences of all divisions and sizes.  Thousands of riders from 71 colleges and universities rode on Expresso Bikes and competed in the College Interactive Cycling Challenge.  They have ridden over 113,350 miles and burned more than 3,984,505 calories, and have shared over 2,236 rides through Facebook and Twitter.

The competition was divided into two divisions – Division I, which competed for the most “Total Miles” plus bonus points, and Division II, which competed for the most “Total Miles per Bike” plus bonus points.    Each competing school earned one point for every mile ridden on their Expresso Bike, the world’s best and most motivating cardio experience, connected by the Internet for virtual competition anytime, anywhere. All teams competed in both divisions and riders earned bonus points by sharing their workouts through Facebook or Twitter. The winning schools from each division have been awarded a brand-new Expresso Bike – a $7,000 value.

Rapidly gaining fans at dozens of colleges across the nation, the Expresso Bike from Interactive Fitness is an exciting new way to engage students and members. Well beyond a stationary bike, the Expresso Bike from Interactive Fitness is the one product that does it all.  It enables riders to experience full virtual reality, as they ride through over 40 different “worlds,” ranging from a one-mile speed course to a 20-mile mountain climb.

And it keeps the riders “social” -- every Expresso Bike is connected via the Internet, enabling riders to share their rides, and compete “virtually” with riders in other locations around the country, instantly.  The Expresso Bike features state-of-the-art electronics and features designed to stimulate the mind as well as the body, and enable riders in one location to virtually race against another rider or group of riders in another location.  These “Virtual Races” are stored and remembered, tracking progress automatically as the rider becomes stronger and healthier.

This is the bike that motivated a young woman at Colorado Mountain College to ask, “Why is this bike so much fun?” That testimonial was collected off the “Team Chat” page for the Expresso Bike on Facebook (also available on Twitter).

Every Expresso Bike features state-of-the-art electronics and features designed to stimulate the mind as well as the body, and enable riders in one location to virtually race against another rider or group of riders in another location.  These “Virtual Races” are stored and remembered for you, tracking your progress automatically as the rider becomes stronger, and healthier.

Is motivation a problem?  Expresso Bike can “push” you, enabling you to ride against your past rides, or challenge those of your friends.

Among the many colleges and universities currently using the Expresso Bike from Interactive Fitness are the University of Iowa; SUNY Binghamton; Northeastern University; Ithaca College; Bucknell University; the University of Washington; Indiana State University; and Florida State University.
