Amtech Wins Awards as “Innovator of the Year” -- Mobile Force Delivery Wins 1st Place, Mobile Sales Force Takes 3rd
Fort Washington, PA – November 15, 2010 – For Cosmo DeNicola, the international “Innovator of the Year” awards Amtech received from a major trade association is validation of his vision for the future of his companies in mobile technology and RFID.
Mobile Force Delivery, Amtech’s delivery tracking system, took first place in the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters (AICC) 2010 Innovator of the Year competition, awarded at the international organization’s annual meeting in Baltimore this October.
Capturing the attention and vote of the majority of meeting attendees, Mobile Force Delivery from Amtech promises to speed up cash flow, eliminate paper and manage delivery truck fleets. The innovation uses Mobile Rugged Device Technology along with GPS, electronic signature capture and integrated wireless data and voice communications technology.
Amtech also captured third place in the competition with Mobile Sales Force, a tool for sales reps which effectively manages time, territory, customers and prospects with 24/7 access to critical account management information, including sales, orders, backlog, quotes, inventory and receivables.
The DeNicola’s award-winning portfolio of technology companies includes Amtech, a software company that serves industries including the packaging industry, and Futura Services (Janet DeNicola, CEO), which provides technology support and services for software, hardware and IT infrastructure.
“Not only was it a total team effort by our employees and staff at both Amtech and Futura, but it was also a family affair,” said DeNicola, who is the President of Amtech. “The DeNicola family of technology companies supports the entire lifecycle of development and deployment (via Amtech), service and support (via Futura), as well as the continual refinements that are necessary anytime a new innovation is introduced.”
Amtech is the packaging industry’s leading supplier of software solutions, installed in over 800 manufacturing plants in North America, with over 30,000 employees utilizing Amtech software every day. Futura has supported over 100,000 medical information carts in use in over 1,500 hospitals in the U.S. and tens of thousands of rugged industrial Mobile Devices.
Cosmo, Janet and their 100 employees form the team at both Amtech and Futura from their headquarters in the Philadelphia suburb of Fort Washington, as well as in offices in St Louis and Los Angeles,
“Our family of technology companies is an unusual place to find two kids who grew up in Northeast Philadelphia,” said DeNicola. “We started out with Amtech in 1981 serving the packaging industry, and have grown not only in that sector, but in our development of award-winning innovations in mobile software for sales and delivery. Janet founded Futura in 1992, and this year it will grow by over 50 percent, which is an outstanding accomplishment in such a terrible business climate. In addition, Futura was recently selected to the Inc. 5000 as one of the nation’s fastest growing companies, as well as the Deloitte Fast 50 as one of the Northeast region’s and Deloitte Fast 500 of the nation’s fastest growing technology companies.
“Shortly, we will expand our family of technology companies when we spinoff Amtech Mobility, enabling us to bring our mobile software and RFID technology innovations to a broader variety of industries beyond the packaging industry,” DeNicola said. “We are already heavily invested in the healthcare sector with Futura. People are on the move, and they need access to more and more information from wherever they happen to be, whether it is healthcare records, sales records, delivery records, or other information that is mission-critical and time-sensitive.”
Mobile technology and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) are increasingly utilized in a broader variety of industries, and DeNicola believes Amtech Mobility is perfectly positioned to deliver software such as Mobile Force Delivery and Mobile Sales Force, as well as new programs and services, beyond their established clients in the packaging industry (with Amtech) and healthcare (with Futura).
“We’ve been developing mobile and RFID applications based upon our experiences with our clients. “We continue to develop innovative new products that we believe can be utilized in a wider variety of industries.”
The DeNicola’s continue to add to their family of companies, recently becoming part of the ownership group of the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League. The Philly Soul resumes play in March of 2011 after winning the Arena Bowl Title in 2008. Pending is the acquisition of an established New York-based firm that DeNicola plans to expand to Los Angeles. But right now, the planned spinoff of Amtech Mobility, the continued growth of Amtech and Futura, and their established portfolio of technology companies are their focus.
“While you cannot find two more dissimilar industries than healthcare and packaging, they share with other industries the common need for mobility and access to their electronic records from where ever they may be, when ever they need them,” DeNicola concluded. “We have already demonstrated the ability to support those needs in new ways, which we think other industries will be ready to take advantage of very shortly.”
