James J. Dunn (Most Recently of Wilshire Associates) Named Chief Investment Officer at Wake Forest University
Winston-Salem, N.C. – Wake Forest University President Nathan O. Hatch has appointed James J. Dunn as vice president and chief investment officer. He will assume his new duties July 1.
Dunn will manage the university’s endowment funds and other financial assets from the Reynolda Campus, Wake Forest University Health Sciences and Reynolda House. The chief investment officer works closely with the president, and also with the Trustee Investment Policy Committee.
He will succeed Louis R. Morrell, vice president for investments and treasurer, who will retire June 30. Morrell has served as vice president and treasurer since 1995.
Most recently, Dunn has been a managing director at Wilshire Associates Incorporated and chief investment officer and portfolio manager for Wilshire Funds Management in Santa Monica, Calif. Wilshire Associates is a leading global investment technology, investment consulting and investment management firm. At Wilshire, he has been responsible for providing leadership on asset allocation, investment policy, and investment manager selection for the asset management arm of Wilshire Associates.
Dunn served from 2002-2005 as vice president of alternative investments at InvestorForce Securities and Altvest in Wayne, Pa. From 1995-2002, he served in a number of roles at the Philadelphia Brokerage Corporation. He was an equity trader, vice president for corporate finance, principal, and chief operating officer before he was named president in 2000. He also served as managing director of One Maverick Corporation.
