Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – March 28, 2008 – Greg “The Bull” Luzinski, one of the most beloved Philadelphia baseball stars of the 1980 World Series champions, has been sharing his love of barbecue with fans at Citizens Bank Park since it opened in 2004.
Now you can bring the taste of the ballyard to the backyard with the new “The Bull BBQ Sauce,” now available in 100 Acme locations in the Philadelphia area and South Jersey, and all Shop-Rite locations owned and operated by the Zallie and Ravitz families.
“The Bull BBQ Sauce” will be available for a special introductory price in April only at those Acme and Shop-Rite locations, $2.99 for each 12-ounce bottle.
“The Bull BBQ Sauce” will also be on sale at the home of the Phillies, Citizens Bank Park, throughout the 2008 baseball season. Regular price for a 12-ounce bottle of “The Bull BBQ Sauce” is $3.99.
“Everyone knows the secret to great barbecue is a great sauce, and ‘The Bull BBQ Sauce’ is my own secret recipe that I’ve been using for years,” said Luzinski, the four-time National League All-Star who slugged many a memorable home run over his 10 seasons with the Phillies. “I really want my fans and friends, who have enjoyed Bull’s BBQ in Ashburn Alley the past four seasons, to be able to bring the taste of the ballyard to the backyard.”

Luzinski was one of the great sluggers of the 1970s and 1980s. Drafted in the first round by the Phildelphia Phillies in the 1968 amateur draft, he played for the Phillies from 1970 to 1980, and the Chicago White Sox from 1981 to 1984.
“The Bull” was second in the National League Most Valuable Player voting in 1975 and 1977, and played on the World Series champs in 1980. A native Chicagoan, he was a team leader on the division-winning 1983 White Sox. A four-time All-Star, Luzinski hit 307 career home runs, with seven seasons hitting at least 20 homers and four seasons hitting at least 30 homers.
