Anchor Health Properties Completes Capital Health System in Hamilton Phase II, Enhancing Suburban Campus with New Sleep Medicine Center and Additional Outpatient Services
Wilmington, DE – August 16, 2007– Earlier this summer, Anchor Health Properties, which has established a distinguished national track record for bringing the strengths of the retail experience to the healthcare consumer and their communities, completed development of Capital Health System in Hamilton Phase II.
The new, 27,000-square-foot facility (located adjacent to the earlier 46,000-square-foot Phase I wellness center) opened to this Central New Jersey community on July 25. Dignitaries on hand for the grand opening event included Mercer County and Hamilton Township elected officials, as well as Capital Health System’s Michael Somerstein, MD (chairman of the Board of Directors), president and CEO Al Maghazehe, PhD, FACHE (President and CEO) and Mark Pressman, MD (president of the Medical Staff).
In April 2005, Anchor Health Properties developed a new suburban presence for a previously urban hospital system with the opening of Capital Health System in Hamilton Phase I. Capital Health System Phase II is home to the Center for Sleep Medicine at Capital Health System, which was relocated to the new building from two older facilities in nearby Trenton. The largest, fully accredited sleep center in Mercer and Bucks counties at over 9,000 square feet, it includes 12 private sleeping rooms with individual bathroom and shower facilities, flat screen TV’s and other amenities for overnight patients.
Among the many other distinguishing features Anchor Health Properties brought to Capital Health System in Hamilton Phase II are high ceilings with skylights, a fireplace, and unique art in both public and office spaces, all designed to enhance customer comfort.
“Phase II of Capital Health System in Hamilton brings to fruition a process that began when we identified this former industrial location a few years ago, and transformed it into a state-of-the-art facility,” said Lou Sachs, President of Anchor Health Properties. “The new facility includes the most advanced sleep center in the region, as well as outpatient physician practices for OB-GYN, endocrinology and gastroenterology.”
Capital Health System in Hamilton Phase II also is home to the Institute for Neuroscience, which features the region’s only CyberKnife Center. Considered the world’s most accurate radiosurgery device, it allows physicians to treat tumors and lesions anywhere in the body with sub-millimeter accuracy. The Institute for Neuroscience is led by Medical Director John D. Lipani, MD, PhD, who is the only fellowship trained CyberKnife neurosurgeon in the United States.
Anchor Health Properties found the site for both buildings, a formerly industrial location adjacent to a major thoroughfare in this rapidly expanding suburb of New Jersey’s capital city, Trenton. Capital Health System, based in Trenton, sought to expand into the suburban market, and embraced Anchor’s vision for the property.
Phase I successfully transformed an old catering hall into a very popular suburban wellness facility, and delivered a dynamic new identity for Capital Health System, which previously had been known solely as an urban healthcare provider. It is estimated that more than 50,000 members of the community have utilized the facility since it opened in 2005.
The newly-completed Phase II has successfully transformed what was once a Bell Atlantic/Verizon truck depot into a state-of-the-art facility that brings a modern healthcare campus to a previously underserved community.
